1. Why raw meat? Dogs and cats are natural carnivores. Although their temperament has been domesticated, their digestive systems are genetically designed to digest raw meat. After all, you would never see a wolf barbecuing its catch. 2. Should I supplement this food? The Ultimate Diet is a complete dog food. However, some dogs and some puppies may need additional supplementation. Please call us
or consult your Holistic Veterinarian. We recommend that up to 10%
of your pet's diet while on The Ultimate Diet can be fresh raw items
from your kitchen that your pet enjoys. 3. My dog/cat still seems hungry. This is a common reaction that dogs and cats have to "real" food. Unless s/he is losing weight, don't feed him or her more than recommended. 4. Don't they need kibble for tartar removal? Kibble does not scrape tartar. (Your dentist does not recomend eating hard
foods for preventing tartar does he?) Healthy saliva consists of stomach
acids that will keep your dog or cat's teeth clean. We do recommend giving raw organic bones frequently to your pets as this also aids in building tartar fighting stomach acids. 5. Sometimes the food looks or smells slightly different. Due to the small batches and homemade quality of The Ultimate Diet slight variations in color or texture are unavoidable. We take great pride and care in selecting our ingredients and we assure you that the recipe is always the same from batch to batch. 6. Humans don't eat "health food" every meal, so why should my dog or cat? On the surface, this statement may seem valid. However, there are a few things to consider: a. The fact that most people don't have healthy diets does not mean it's a good thing. If a thousand people do a foolish thing, it's still a foolish thing. b. People don't have to depend on someone else to make their diet decisions for them. Your pets do. If you did have to depend on someone else for your food, would you not feel a lot better if that person put your health and nutrition first? c. A better way of phrasing the question is "I don't eat fast food every meal, why should my pet?"      7. Why don't we include eggs in our foods.? In the wild a dog or cat would be lucky to get an egg as a treat every so often, therefore we do not see it as a logical thing to add it to their food on a daily basis, in fact there have been reports and studies done on problems concerning the white of the egg for dogs. So we reccomend that you give your dog one a week and leave it at that. 8. Why do we reccomend fasting? Fasting has been used throughout history in many cultures as a means of cleansing the body. In fact it is used by many alternative doctors as a way of curing illness (see Orso's story in the testimonials) and ridding the body of toxins. Animals in the wild, either for lack of prey or voluntarily, fast themselves every 7-8 days routinely. This is Mother Nature's way of resting the body and allowing it to treat any underlying problems naturally through the immune system. Our kennel of dogs is routinely fasted once a week (adults) and two days once a month, and except for a few accidents we have not been to the vet for 15 years, with over 30 dogs. Frankly, the only reason for us to suggest fasting to our customers is that we believe it to be the best preventative measure for your pet. As far as only fasting a healthy animal: sick animals need it more, but it should be under the supervision of someone qualified. If you think your pet is not healthy please call our client service number for help fasting or finding a good holistic vet. We would be happy to help! 9. How long will the food last in the fridge. Approximately five days. 10. Why don't we use Cabbage or Broccoli in our diets? They are to be avoided due to the gas producing effect they have on a system. This is true for humans as well who are prone to gas build-up. If you are pregnant or nursing main stream medical advice tells you to avoid them as they are a cause of colic in babies and discomfort in the pregnant woman. 11. Why do we use grains in our products and other companies don't? There are many theories about what pets should and should not eat. We feel that grains are an integral part of your pets' diets. We use less than 10% in our dog diets and less than 5% in our cat food. How did we arrive at this amount? Logic and trials on our kennel. Logic would dictate that if a dog or cat were to kill a suitable sized prey (rabbit or mouse) there would most definitely be a certain amount of grain matter in the stomachs of these animals. The stomach is a part of the prey that is also eaten. Therefore given the size of the stomach and the proportions to the body of the prey we arrived at the possible quantities. Then we tested it on our animals. They did considerably better than on just meat alone. Don't be confused by companies marketing strategies when they say grains are bad. Grains are bad in the quantities that your animals have been used to in commercial kibble (80-90 percent). In the quantities that we use them they are an important and logical addition to the diet. However due to a certain customer demand we do offer a
“No Grains” version of our diets now. If you have any questions that we have not addressed please feel free to call us. Locally in Toronto at 519-943-0150 or toll free at 1-877-57-4-PETS Before starting on The Ultimate Diet, we recommend fasting your adult dog for one 24-hour period, giving only filtered water and then fasting once a week for life. 40-70 lbs 2 ½ to 3 ½ cups daily
80-110 lbs 4 to 5 cups daily

Puppies, pregnant or lactating females should have quantities increased according to their stage of growthCats: 5 lbs ½ cup daily
10 lbs ¾ cup daily
15 lbs 1 cup daily
20 lbs 1 ¼ cups daily

Kittens, pregnant or lactating females should have quantities increased according to their stage of growth.

Please begin with the lowest amount recomended for the weight and watch the weight
carefully. These guidelines are only a suggestion. Amounts will vary greatly with
age, activity, breed and individual metabolism. The best judge is the weight of the
pet not if they still look hungry!
1. Defrost at room temperature, or add a little warm water to speed it up
2. Always feed at room temperature. 3. Do not mix with kibble. 4. Give only filtered water to your pets. You may notice ear or eye discharge when your pet starts The Ultimate Diet. This is a de-tox period. Depending on the condition of your pet's individual system is and how long s/he has been on commercial foods, this may or may not need treatment. Consult a holistic veterinarian for diagnosis. You may contact us for help in finding a suitable veterinarian. For dogs, give raw bones weekly but only for 20 minutes at a time, under supervision. Puppies, kittens, elderly, or sick animals may need additional supplements. Consult your holistic veterinarian or contact us. Some pet's systems may be so weakened by commercial foods that they may need additional enzymes at first (until they have built up the strong system they were born with). We
recommend Digest Aide, Prozyme and Bio K. Contact us for
more information.
